New Grade for Fall 2024 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety.
La Palma, CA November 15, 2024 – La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
This marks La Palma Intercommunity Hospital’s fourth consecutive ‘A’ Grade in Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group, demonstrating an enduring commitment to excellence and the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality care. Over the last year, 85 percent of Prime Healthcare hospitals earned “A” ratings from The Leapfrog Group.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade in Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group is a proud moment for La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. This achievement highlights the extraordinary efforts of our team to prioritize patient safety and deliver exceptional care,” states Ayman Mousa, CEO of La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. “Our clinical teams will upholding our mission in ensuring our community receives the best care possible when they need it most.”
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for La Palma Intercommunity Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
Earlier this year, La Palma Intercommunity Hospital received national accolades for their commitment to patient safety as a 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recipient as a result of their dedication to exceptional patient care along with five-star treatment of pneumonia and diabetic emergencies.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
